In Part 2 of our coverage of the 2013 MIAS Custom and Classic Car Competition, we’ve talked about the classic cars at the event, and how the modern cars of today evolved from the classic legends. Well, today, we’ll be featuring the latter – the modern cars of today, inspired by the classic legends, but customized and tuned to today’s standards. Let’s go!

But to me, the hottest-looking Mustang was probably the one done by Atoy Customs, sporting a super cool body kit. It’s like they put the “M” in “Muscle”! Atoy Customs has always been arguably the best body kit makers in the Philippines, and lately…

Atoy Customs also had their Hyundai Genesis Amuse drift car at the show. The car, ironically being dubbed as the Asian version of the Pony Car, with the 3.8 Genesis Coupe having been compared numerous times to the Mustang V6 by various publications.

That’s one of the reasons why the car gained popularity, spawning numerous body kit iterations…

But of course, with the brand-new Toyota 86 out in the market, with massive popularity, having been tuned and modified by various aftermarket shops and companies, it makes it very hard to decide which one a potential buyer would like to get. Some say if you’re in it for speed, get the Genesis. If you’re in it for the handling, get the 86. Would you agree?

On a more personal note, to tell you frankly, I’m not really a fan of buying cars in the brand-new market. I’d have two other options other than buying brand-new. First, I’d rather pick up a car that you would know would become a future legend at a fraction of the cost of a brand-new car…

…and just spend on the modifications that would suit your needs or purpose.

…or a pre-owned exotic! Why? Even with little modifications to it, other than minor personalizations, you would still have a head-turning machine that wouldn’t depreciate much from the book-value at which you purchased it.
